Janet MacLeod

Visual artist. I grew up in East Montpelier where I still live.  As the daughter of an art school graduate who used her training in all aspects of life - a life which focused on the community around her - I have followed her path.  I attended Rhode Island School of Design where I majored in painting.  In the years since then I have worked at unrelated jobs but continued to paint and have added papier mache as another medium. Following my mother's example of connecting my work to the community, I have chosen to exhibit in spaces not set apart from our daily lives and having a studio above the Co-op has been perfect for that.  The activity of the village, the energy of people involved with the Co-op, the food close by, have all added to the work setting and give me a place to share paintings, graphics, and papier mache critters with my neighbors.

Visual artist. So glad to live in proximity to the Adamant Coop! Biking up Center Road to visit my favorite store in New England, then continuing on nearby dirt roads, is a source of inspiration for my paintings.

Eben Bodach-Turner

Bow maker. I make bows for violin-family instruments. All of my bows are made entirely by hand using traditional tools and methods. I draw inspiration for my bows from the French makers of the 18-19th century. Collaborating with musicians from a variety of traditions to learn what they need in a bow is always a pleasure and a great reminder that the bows I make go out in the world and help them realize their art. I am grateful to live in a place that supports musicians and craftspeople so wholeheartedly.
