I grew up in East Montpelier in the town where I live now. As the daughter of an art school graduate who used her training in all aspects of her life - a life which focused on the community around her as well as her family - I was inclined towards art school and attended the Rhode Island School of Design where I majored in painting. In the years since then I have worked at unrelated jobs but continued to paint. I have generally chosen to have exhibits in community spaces which are not set apart from our daily life and currently display my work in my own studio where I invite people to visit me anytime I’m there. -Janet MacLeod
